Art Talk Ghana
June 28, 2019 - Our members from the HapaSpace, a co-working space and the first startup hub in Kumasi, Ghana, invited the Kumasi Arts Community to their Art Talk Event with Bernard Akoi-Jackson, PhD. We learned that Bernard Akoi-Jackson is an artist and writer interrogating hybrid post-colonial African identities, while using dance, poetry, installation, photography and video.
Being asked why contemporary Ghanaian artists take such prominent position on the global art stage, he replied "Now, there is no hierarchy of form, genre or medium, when it comes to fine art. Critical discourse, political awareness and artistic responsibility become the operational words." A big thank you to HapaSpace for enabling this discourse, as innovation in technology starts by discussing and working with creative professionals.
